Green Worriers – Mukesh’s story

In my personal experience I have seen a lot of change in the society and that change is all for the better good of the society and the environment. I remember once in Singapore at the beach a sperm whale washed up at sea. when I found out what had caused the death, I found out that plastics by the kilo were found in the whale’s tummy.

Can we fix it? Yes we can!

In this project, we focused on the correlation between quality education and proper learning environments. We have noticed several issues in our school’s nursery, seeing that is cramped, unorganized, and lacking several essentials that are necessary for the development of the students there.

AQUA SAVERS

Our project mainly talks about lessening the amount of water used, since Lebanon is suffering from deficit rainfalls. We are going to talk with Beirut municipality to do this project on watering plants in the streets, by automatic watering system

As Third Culture Kids, we know how it feels like to be discriminated against and we have decided to help others who face the same problems.

Our Journey to Reduce TCK Discrimination

For the GSL Global Goals Competition, we chose to reduce discrimination around the world. Our main focus is on Third Culture Kids (TCK) discrimination.

As Third Culture Kids, we know how it feels like to be discriminated against and we have decided to help others who face the same problems.

Let everyday be earthday

I think all the students studying in GIIS are incredibly lucky, because there is this great atmosphere of learning about the things you should care about the future, and yes plants are surely one of them. My school is having a chart which indicates that we should reduce carbon foot prints and the school also supports in a nature friendly environment by growing plants in the herbal garden.

Vertical Garden

Within our school we identified a need to have a green area which would offer support for the local bee population, would get students involved in a micro ecosystem, would provide an area for potential IB IA’s of sixth form students and would in a small way make the local environment a cleaner, greener place.

Water waste is an extremely important issue in our modern society with more than a quarter of the clean, drinkable water our homes employ being poured down the drain every day. Not only don’t we realise the cost of this practice, but this also contributes to our growing ecological footprint which, inevitably, leads to the overall unsustainable ecosystem that is our planet.

Recycle and reduce plastic now

Every time we go to the beach, the sea or near a lake we see lots of trash!

This is terrible because animals in the water might become trapped or choke on the plastic that people have just thrown in the water – this needs to stop,we must help the animals like the turtles and dolphins, we must protect and save our planet Earth!

Promote book reading and Theatre attendance

We are trying to tackle the issue of too much technology in the lives of people, and the lack of theatre visits and book reading, since people these days, do not value their importance. The project involves the students, families, friends and the school community.
