Our popular GSL Catalyst course is back with a new design!

This transformational leadership course enables young people between the ages of 11-14 to become social leaders in their schools and communities. The GSL Catalyst Course is an opportunity for them to:

  • Design a Social Action Project with the support of our highly experienced team through an interactive 4-month course
  • Attend monthly virtual bootcamps to connect and learn with young changemakers from across the world
  • Develop important leadership and lifelong learning skills through self-paced activities using our Do-It-Yourself ‘Social Action Toolkit’
  • Explore themes on Leadership, Empathy, Resilience and Reflection to enhance the development of their socio-emotional wellbeing
  • Celebrate their achievements, along with their peers from the course and their parents, at our online GSL Catalyst Graduation Event!

“I really enjoyed the GSL Catalyst course because it was very insightful and provided me with a new outlook on leadership and the world. Additionally, my facilitator was excellent and very inspiring. The other people in my team were all very passionate young leaders and we were able to have lots of effective discussions.”

How will young people be taught?

This course is a combination of live virtual sessions and self-paced learning using the DIY Social Action Toolkit.

The live virtual sessions will take place on Zoom and participants will be sent the Zoom links on the registered ID in advance.

The content is delivered in English by an experienced team of facilitators. We ask that all participants are confident in their level of English language, and suggest a CEFR level (Common European Framework of Reference) of B2 or above (C1/C2) to effectively engage in this course.

Will students be assessed?

Students will not be assessed but will be required to submit a summary of their independent challenge, alongside any relevant evidence including pictures, written reflections and/or a creative piece to showcase their GSL journey.

Where can they find the GSL Do-It-Yourself Social Action Toolkits?

The Do-It-Yourself Social Action Toolkit can be found in the Catalyst Teams Area which is a password protected webpage. Access to this webpage will be given to participants after registration to the course.

Will students receive a certificate?

Students will be awarded with e-certificates following the virtual graduation event.

What will they need to attend the course?

How will students be kept safe online?

Students safety is taken seriously and we want to ensure everyone has a great experience. Everyone will be required to read and sign a Code of Conduct before the course begins. We want all young people to be able to engage in a safe and respectful space.

Is there a discount for students at a GSL Member School? (Yes, contact us for a discount code)
