PROJECT PUSTAK from The Doon School, India

IMPACT OF PROJECT

Project Pustak’, an initiative inspired by the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and ‘Padhega India, Badhega India’ campaigns, is a nationwide service that sets up libraries in underprivileged schools, orphanages, old-age homes, and other public centres in order to promote education and learning. In line with the Sustainable Development goals set out by the United Nations, it seeks to use second-hand material and equipment to institute these libraries instead of squandering funds on purchasing such educational resources that lie unused in several households. Furthermore, we focus on spreading awareness regarding literacy across the world by conducting workshops for underprivileged children, and due to Covid-19, we have resorted to using digital means for the same. Our key aim is to make education available and accessible to all, doing so through a Blog, Podcast, and an E-Library.

We believe our project will motivate and push thousands of children to further their interest in education, provide a means of education for the underprivileged, and educate the masses regarding the importance of literacy and SDGs 4,10, and 12.
