Meet AimHi
AimHi is the curiosity-driven, nature-first online school, offering live, interactive lessons from exceptional teachers and charismatic role models, for learners ages 8+.
Our lessons are designed to spark curiosity, encourage engagement, and provide students with stellar mentors who are passionate about their fields of study. We cover a variety of subjects from environmental science through to poetry, philosophy and politics, with numerous cross-subject collaborations and inspiring guests to help students understand the links between subjects and the world of work.
How it all began
We launched AimHi in March this year because, with schools closing around the world, millions were missing out on learning. In the UK for example, two thirds of students have received no online lessons since March. And while we’ve been working to overcome educational inequality during Covid-19, we’ve also used this as an opportunity to bring a little bit of curiosity back into education.
Our Mission
Our main mission is to make world-class live learning accessible to everyone—we really believe this will be key to unlocking a huge amount of unmet societal potential. We want to provoke curiosity, inspire people to think critically, and empower diverse voices to tackle the world’s biggest problems.
We also put nature first in all our thinking, and through the breadth of our courses—including lessons from renowned environmentalists such as Jane Goodall and George Monbiot—give students a chance to find their own passion and place within the fight to reverse the climate crisis.
What We’re Working On
Recently we’ve been developing a live interactive 4-part course on climate change, that’s supported by the Eden Project and Cambridge Zero, and intended for an older audience.
This course gives participants the knowledge to cut through misinformation and fake news, and the confidence to weave their understanding into everyday conversations, actions and plans. Rather than overwhelming people with data and charts, we go beyond the science; covering solutions, psychology and creative approaches to communication.
Our aim has been to create a course, and set of resources, that will empower educators (and others!) to confidently incorporate their understanding of the climate crisis into lesson plans and teaching. Teachers and schools can learn more and sign up to lessons starting this week.
We’re also working on AimHi Tutoring for learners aged 10 to 18. Unlike traditional tutoring, learners join a small group, to learn simultaneously from a top teacher, in a live, interactive, online lesson, accessible on any device from anywhere in the world—with prices as cheap as a cup of coffee! Increasing accessibility to top tuition has never been more critical and we’re proud to be working on a solution. Parents, teachers, and students can find out more and register their interest here.
Meet the Team
The team is made up of educators, designers, communicators, and strategists who are passionate about democratising education and ensuring all learners, no matter their background, can access an exceptional and inspiring education. One of our Founders, Matthew Shribman, is an award-winning science communicator and environmentalist who is on a mission to make science as accessible as oxygen. You can find out more about our teachers and team over on our website!
