Pots of sunshines

We are delighted to share a blog written by students Rossella and MJ, from Swiss International School Qatar ( SISQ ), who are part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

we had fun designing and planning and we are excited to actually create!

Project Summary

Our project is based on planting seeds in pots we painted, that is the easiest way of summarizing it. We will be creating designs that can support awareness for mental health or not and we will be giving it to people who can accept donating to mental health and to who wants to get our pots. This project will be raising awareness for mental health and will be us taking action and making sure that people realize that Mental health is a serious factor in peoples lives and that everyone has mental health

Our Journey

In 2020, 2 students (Rossella and MJ) decided to form a Global Social Leaders project. They mixed their projects and collaborated to create “ The pots of Sunshine “. They went through ups and downs and class approvals to not only win for the best project in their class but to also find 2 new group mates. These 4 7GA girls (Rossella, MJ, Rhea, and Abby) went through approvals, shared ideas, and went through ups and downs to finally create a project they were proud of. Their project contains, planting seeds in pots that are painted and the money received/collected will be used to donate to a mental health charity, depending on their charity they will need to do research and check if that particular charity accepts money/awareness and if they accept awareness, there will be a big surprise headed for SISQ.

Our Next Chapter

Our next chapter is to get all the materials we need and actually carry out the project. We have been waiting for this for a long time. We will take action and spread all the awareness we can for mental health and show people that we all have mental health and that some people are less lucky when it comes to mental health. We want to make sure that people reach out for help when they need it and mental health is a normal thing and that it is nothing to be ashamed of

The 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2021. If you belong to one of the 500+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
