Hisar School’s Living Water

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Şiraz Ulutaş from Hisar School, who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2019-20 Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

Understanding the importance of water resources and made us have a different point of view for the world and realize the global consequences of our actions.

Project Overview

Our goal in our project is to reduce the use of water and raise the awareness of people in this regard. People are not aware of how much water they consume in their daily lives. For this reason, we decided to start a development project. By organizing different works in this development project, our goal is to announce to people of all ages. It was our experience as a group to research and learn the facts about this topic before starting this project. We made social media accounts, posters and events as a group for the development of this project.

Our Journey

By participating in the GSL Global Goals Competition, we realized that there are actually ways to solve issues that have become world troubles. Thanks to this contest, we learned not to give up, no matter what. As our project progressed and we learned new information, we actually discovered that every problem is solved with a sense of unity and solidarity. This journey has definitely changed my own perspective and made me realize that everything that exists now is very important, we are sure that as our project progresses, we will encounter problems. We think the biggest problem will be to enable people to take our project seriously. We don’t just want people to know about our project, we want them to apply it in their lives.

The Next Chapter

We definitely recommend that peers and other people participate in projects like this or even create their own projects. It is very important to raise awareness. When a person becomes conscious, others become conscious. For this reason, it is very important to do everything we can. We also want to create awareness in our project. It is up to us to save our future. We believe that we can easily solve these problems with the help of each of us. My suggestion for my other peers is to raise awareness as much as they can. What we have now can disappear at any time because of what we do.

The 2019-20 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2020. If you belong to one of the 700+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
