Shiv Nadar School, Noida |

WHO WE ARE

We are delighted to share a blog written by students in the team Alliance for Peace and Justice (AFPAJ), from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

Its a pleasure to work towards the betterment of the world.

Project Summary

We are ‘Alliance For Peace And Justice’ ( AFPAJ), working to spread Justice and Peace for strong institutions. We want to accomplish Sustainable Development Goal 16, ‘Peace Justice and Strong Institutions’. We want to bring out a progressive change in our discriminative and prejudice world.

A world where freedom is free, yet, unavailable. A world where women fear to be alone and children resist going out. A world which worships women, but invaded her privacy. A world which idolizes wealth and power, rather than humanity and unity.

Each day the newspapers are filled with news about sexual assaults, gang violence, economical and caste conflict and religious demurs. Our world has faced extreme experiences concerning discrimination. The Nirbhaya rape case, 16th December 2016, India; various honor killing cases across the world; This sight of inequality and disparity is what inspired our passion for this particular project and SDG.

We have to be united, just and open-minded to accomplish Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16). We have to ensure to avoid conflicts to achieve peace, abide by law and order or promote equality to attain justice, and inculcate imperishable morals amongst all, to obtain strong institutions. If these few necessary ideologies are established in our society, the whole world will be benefited. By this, we will not only achieve our aims but also it will help the world to be a better place to live in.

  • An institution ensuring equality, justice and acceptance for all, regardless of one’s gender, religion, caste, economical and social status.
  • Reducing exploitation and violence to bring in safety and peace.
  • Showcasing the importance and necessity of law and order to achieve our goals.
  • Reducing exploitation and violence.
  • Protecting fundamental rights.
  • Declining corruption percentage.

Our Journey

The communication in our team is balanced as everyone has a perspective to share, bringing in the diversity in our project. This helped us comprehend the project in-depth and create valuable resources for promoting our project. So far we have learned a lot about the inequalities our society contains, and how to cease them. We have discovered our capabilities and have been able to communicate online. We are learning a lot about the 21st Century skills which include collaboration, critical thinking, communication, citizenship, creativity and character education.

The biggest challenge in our work is to interact with people and improve their understanding of our work. It was very difficult for our team to get together due to the pandemic restrictions. That’s why we tried to cover around 95% of our work online. We believe this is the only solution to this problem.

We will easily overcome other obstacles that we face as a team.

Our Next Chapter

‘When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts’.- Dalai Lama

An inquisitiveness to change our world comes from the heart. The youth is the future; if the willingness to bring a progressive change in the world strikes the youth now, our world would surely evolve towards betterment.

To bring this generation into similar projects, our call for action will be to make everyone realize the issues our world is facing currently, and familiarize them with the causes. We unitedly have to come up with fruitful solutions and advertise it through social media, posters and so on, to create awareness. We have to urge each other to support the world to be a better place to live in.

The next goal we have is to spread awareness through social media with publishing posters, videos, surveys and write ups online. We have created several social media accounts and we are regularly publishing posts to make the public aware of our work. We have started to make posters related to our project to make the people aware of what is actually happening in the world around us.
