To The Better

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Nada, from Al Dhafra Private Schools, Abu Dhabi, delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

Participating and engaging in projects with other people will always do you good because you will inspire one another. So, dream big, set goals and TAKE ACTION NOW!

Project Summary

Have you ever noticed how you are feeling? Maybe you didn’t because you are too stressed with completing tasks in your life that you don’t take enough time to care for yourself. To sit alone and relax your mind. You might think this is stupid but, mental health plays a decisive role in your well-being. If you are not feeling well, you will get less stuff done in your life and you won’t feel good.

As a group (Inside Health) we have noticed that so many people are not happy or they are over-stressed everyday. If you think about it, you will know that mental health IS a thing. I have been inspired by many factors. The largest one is my class. My class always seem to be extremely depressed and unhappy which makes me feel bad and I wanted to do something about it but, some people just don’t want to listen. When I found out about the Global Goals Competition, I thought to myself ‘This is the chance!’. This is the chance to change people’s mindset and convince them that well- being IS a major problem that a lot of people struggle from and we need to take action. This is my goal. To have a world with happier people. People with smiles. People that wake up everyday, excited to start their day. THAT is my dream…

Our Journey

The GSL Global Goals Competition has helped me develop a lot of skills. It has helped me enhance my social skills, artistic skills and co-operating skills. I believe that this competitions goal is to bring young people together from all around the world. It is to give them the opportunity to have a voice that is heard . To make a change. My personality is mostly joyful, positive as well as talkative. I like to open conversations with people and chat with them. If someone is sad or is not feeling well, I will always be there for them to make them feel better.

I discovered that I myself sometimes don’t think about my mental health. In fact, this completion has helped me realize how careless I was about my own well- being and it encouraged me to improve it and help other people as well. The biggest challenge to overcome in our goal ( Good health and well-being) is to convince people. Let them realize that this is real. Convince them to care and take action. In order to overcome this challenge, we shall raise awareness about this topic, talk to people through our YouTube channel or give them inspirational quotes and speeches. We shall have the power to make change. Words are powerful but only if you use them the right way.

Our Next Chapter

For all young people out there, I call you to engage in these types of projects. I encourage you all to say your ideas and things you want to change in the world because you will be and you should be heard. The Global Goals Competition is a great opportunity for children to enhance their social skills, artistic skills and many other things. I am not doing this project just to get prizes or followers or friends; I am doing this to actually MAKE A CHANGE! So go ahead , stand up and get started. You have all the future ahead of you and as people say: ”There is no time like the future.” So be grateful you’re a kid and use your time wisely. Join the change NOW! Dream big, set goals, take action.

The 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2021. If you belong to one of the 500+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
