How Activism Changed My Life

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Bashar, from Baysour Official Secondary School, delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

It was an inspirational, amazing, and memorable journey.

Project Summary

I have identified the need to tackle the issue of lacking mental health advocacy. And, since I have a personal experience in this I decided to take action. My project aims at spreading awareness on the importance of mental health.

Our Journey

I developed many skills, such as: communication, negotiation, leadership, socializing, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. And throughout my journey with GSL Global Social Leaders I have learnt that I am truly passionate about inspiring others to become the best version of themselves , as leadership is inspiring not more, not less.my biggest challenge is the lack of resources and I will overcome it by partaking in this amazing experience.

Our Next Chapter

I would recommend taking part in the competition, as such projects are so beneficial, my call to action for them is that the power to change is only in the hand of youth, so let’s use our power wisely.

The 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2021. If you belong to one of the 500+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
