Hungry Helpers | Feeding the Need

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Aaliyah, from Westside Middle School Academy, who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2021-22 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community!

Our experience was amazing!

Project Summary

The Hungry Helpers is the name of our project. The project that we are attempting to create is aimed at assisting those who are suffering from poverty and homelessness. We are attempting to contribute to the achievement of two of the United Nations’ global goals. These goals are No Poverty and Zero Hunger for people who are homeless, poor, or hungry.

There are many people who cannot afford the basic necessities that all people require, and our goal and purpose is to assist those people and make their lives as comfortable as possible. We also want to collaborate with other organizations so that we can achieve our goal of assisting those who are suffering and in need. Poverty and hunger are two of the worst things that anyone can go through in their lives, and we want to make it less common. We can’t stop it all at once; it will take time, but with the help and support of others who want to help, we can assist many people who deserve better lives than they currently have.

The Journey

We are assisting those in need. We accomplish this by collaborating as a group, learning what each group member excels at and working hard to achieve success in. This includes each team member focusing on how to complete the entire project. A specific issue is reaching out to younger audiences to encourage them to support and participate in helping those in need. The Covid-19 epidemic was a major issue because it reduced the likelihood of going to local food banks due to the requirement of staying at home. This is a setback in terms of being able to volunteer and assist those in need. Is it giving more freedom to volunteer without causing harm to others or group members during the 2022 epidemic? We are participating in our school dance to raise funds for our project. We’re trying to raise as much money as possible in as many ways as possible, and this will help.

The Next Chapter

The projects’ next steps will be to visit soup kitchens and homeless shelters to assist the homeless and those in need. We will also donate to these organizations and buildings in order to assist the homeless and those in need in a variety of ways. We will continue to post on social media and show people the work we are doing to help people. We will continue to assist through food banks and homeless shelters. We will donate and do everything we can to alleviate the suffering. We will also enlist the help of volunteers to ensure that we have as many hands as possible. Once we have informed as many people as possible, we will continue to raise funds and add to our project in order to take it to the next level. That includes locally, nationally, and, if we work hard enough and educate enough people about us, globally. Overall, we will continue what we started by assisting people to live better lives and end their homelessness and poverty.
