Smart Conventions To Shield The Globe

We are delighted to share a blog written by Aroub Abdalsalam Gomosani, a student at Al Moktashef International School who are part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2018-19 Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 620 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

This opportunity has been wonderful for everyone involved, we are especially glad that our school MIS gave us such an opportunity.

Project Overview

Our topic, plastic consumption and production, have attracted us as students and our school. We researched the topic, and saw how the earth is being tarred apart because of how we abuse plastic and other substances. We were excited to make a difference in our community and contribute in the global goals competition.

Our Journey

As students, hoping for a rich and colourful future, we couldn’t be more touched by the situation regarding plastic right now, we have personally taken it upon ourselves to to eliminate or at least reduce the use of plastic in our school and homes. We are so thankful for such an experience and the fact that we are now aware of this horrific situation, and we are doing our best to help save our planet and our future.

The Next Chapter

I would love for people not only my age, but absolutely everyone to help reduce the use of plastic bags and bottles. We are hoping for a better earth and everybody has to be involved. And we are asking for people to simply use reusable plastic, and to stop using plastic bottles.

The 2018-19 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2019. If you belong to one of the 700+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
