A lack of affordable housing is a project that plagues India, and Project Gharana tries to work around this issue by innovating ways to cut construction costs, and build inexpensive accommodations. For this, Gharana uses end-of-life shipping containers i.e. cheap, sturdy and fit for living. These homes are made with flooring made from recycled tetra packs and use solar panels to power the home, thereby cutting down on energy and resource expenses. These measures lower construction expenditure and make it far easier to provide affordable housing to those who are deprived of it, amidst this national housing crisis.
