Project Description:
BackSense by Neerja Modi School is an innovative health technology project designed to prevent long-term spinal damage caused by poor posture and excessive backpack weight. The team developed a wearable biomechanical monitoring system that detects unsafe posture and backpack weight in real time, providing corrective alerts within 5-7 seconds. Beyond immediate intervention, the device encourages lasting behavioural change by training students to self-correct even when it is not in use. To drive broader impact, the team is developing policy recommendations for schools. Community engagement through 15+ workshops across Jaipur has reached over 1,500 students, including sessions with students, parents and teachers on safe load limits and posture health.
