The New Normal – Covid-19 Precautions

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Ananyaa, from Pathways School Gurgaon, who is part of team Health O’ Nomic delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

This blog was about the precautionary measures you can take during these Covid Times

Project Summary

Covid-19 is The New Normal. It is a virus that enters your body and affects your respiratory system.

Washing Hands

Wash Hands with soap and water thoroughly for at least 20 seconds and avoid touching your face. Germs from dirty hands can be transferred through contact surfaces and touching objects or other people. Washing our hands with soap and water kills the germs in our hands so we stay clean and safe.

Wearing Masks

Wearing masks is a simple way to prevent any airborne diseases like the present Covid we are facing. Masks reduce transmission of germs while conversing and socializing with people. It protects us from illness and in general, it is good hygiene.

Social Distancing

Social Distancing is maintaining up to 6 feet between you and other people. It is intended to prevent the spread of contagious diseases. Avoid close contact with anyone who isn’t a family member or who lives in the same house as you.

Avoid Touching Your Face

Do not touch your face especially your mouth nose and eyes. Your hands may be contaminated and carry germs if unwashed. Your mouth, nose, and eyes are the entry points for germs to enter our body. Avoid touching contact surfaces without sanitizing or sharing personal items with others.

Don’t Go Out Unless Required

Stay home if you feel unwell or show any symptoms of a contagious disease. Seek immediate medical attention if you feel unwell. Staying home prevents you from getting sick and keeps others safe as you are not coming in contact with them.

It is highly recommended to be on home quarantine for at least 2 weeks and take every precautionary measure to protect yourself and the people around you.

WHAT IF YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID??

If you have recently travelled to a country or a region with a widespread of Covid, you are advised to seek medical care immediately. You are advised to be on Home Quarantine for the next 14 days, wear a mask to protect others, stay away from family members, and do not go to work, school, or other public places.
