Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions

Education Without Barriers

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Ece, from Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions, who is part of team The Helpers of Youth delivering a Global Goals project for the 2020-21 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

It is an eye opening experience.

Project Summary

We are taking action to reduce inequalities in education that many disabled children in our community face through our project. The aim of our project is to create a digital learning platform for kids who have Cerebral Palsy and we are hoping that this digital platform will contribute to their education. We also want kids with this condition whose families don’t have the financial status or the conditions to have special education to achieve quality education. We are also hoping to raise money for their treatment as well. We are creating digital learning content for preschool kids, teaching them the colors, concepts and numbers by special methods. We partnered with Cerebral Palsy Turkey association. We are meeting with experts who are specialized in the education of Cerebral Palsy patients.

The Journey

We have developed our communication skills by communicating with associations and while partnering with them. We also gained knowledge about the education process of children with Cerebral Palsy and we are trying to raise awareness about disabled people in our community as well.

As a group we have learned that we are lucky to have access to quality education. We are aware of the challenges people in our society may face and we acknowledge them. We learned the value of the power we have and we realized that we can make change in our society if we try hard and If we unite.

Our biggest challenge was the hardships we faced while communication with each other. Because of the pandemic our city is in a lockdown and we couldn’t have a chance to do face to face meeting but we overcame this challenge by meeting via zoom and forming a whatsapp group.

The Next Chapter

I would recommend everyone to take action even though it is a small thing. It can be good to acknowledge the difficulties people face in your community to starting fundraising campaigns. You can educate your friends about the global issues and what can we do to reduce them. You can even form a club in your school and unite people by it. Your voice matters and we can make a change in our society if we act together and realize the faults in our system.
