We are delighted to share a blog written by student Marwan Mohamed Faisal from Victoria College, who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2019-20 Global Goals Competition.
Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.
All of us gained new skills from this project.
Project Overview
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies.
It occurs as a result of introduction of pollutants in water. Water is life still we contribute in polluting the water bodies in several ways.
Water pollution is mainly caused as a result of improper discharge of house hold and industrial chemicals wastes into the water bodies.
The water we drink daily looks very clear however contains verities of microscopic pollutants floating in it.
Our earth is covered with water (almost 70% of total) so a little change in it could affect lives worldwide.
The highest level of water pollution is caused by the pollutants come from agriculture field because of the high use of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides to enhance the production of crops.
We need to bring vast improvements in the type of chemicals we use in the agriculture.
Oil is another big pollutant polluting the water.
Leaked oil from the land or rivers oil transport through ships ship crashes etc.. flows to sea or ocean and affecting whole water.
Dead zones are hypoxic areas in the world’s oceans and larges lakes caused by excessive natural pollution from human activities cooped with other factors that deplete the oxygen required to support most marine life in bottom and near bottom water off the share of every continent.
The excess of oxygen depleting chemicals in the water can lead to hypoxia and the creation of dead zone.

It also had a large dead zone caused by ground returns.
The decrease the chance of creating a dead zone which is an area of no pressure.
Our Journey
We have taken care of tackling the problem of water pollution because water is an important source of livelihood.
The Next Chapter
We will educate people to stay away from the causes that pollute the water.
We will make charts, videos and power point presentations about water pollution and how to treat from it.
The 2019-20 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2020.
