Swans Energy Savers

We are delighted to share a blog written by Miguel García Sánchez, a student at Swans School International Marbella who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2018-19 Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 620 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

Project Overview

I am very satisfied with the progress of our project throughout the months. I have met new people working on this project and I have increased my ability to work in a team of different ages collaboratively. In this case, our inspiration has been a brilliant and intelligent student of our school, who had the great idea of reducing the electricity bill of our school by removing and covering with informative posters A / C trailer controls to help reduce the A / C contamination during winter time and after compare the electricity bills of this winter compared to the past winters.

Our Journey

I have learned skills like working in a team with harmony and peace. With no discourse. I have also learned practical things in my day to day as: make a striking poster or improve my range of vocabulary and of course listening to other peoples opinions about controversial topics or news that are known wide worldly. It is a beautiful and unforgettable experience. I have learned many things and done things that I did not know what I could do.

I believe that our biggest challenge is to make people aware of all the dangers of pollution, but as we are sensible beings and we will find the best way to convince all employees the best of each one of us. Together we make a great team with each with certain qualities that contribute a grain of sand in the pile. In short, this experience benefits as a person and helps to evolve concepts such as discussing and knowing how to listen to people’s opinions.

My experience that I feel carrying out this project is very good, I feel satisfied and happy to have undertaken in this wonderful and surprising adventure. You get to know people from your school with whom you do not usually work and learn to work as a team.

The Next Chapter

I believe that our next step is to expand this project idea, through other Marbella schools and even schools in Malaga. Apart from that, we have to expand the ideas of equality between genders and genres, that I think it is also another step we should give as human beings. Next, improve the reduction of pollution and make people aware of the dangers of contamination. In general, it is necessary to improve concepts such as Equality and Pollution.

I would recommend this type of collaborative competition because it helps improve teamwork and you get to know people you would usually work with. Also because you get to discuss and explain your feeling about controversial topics or problems we have as a planet let’s say.

The 2018-19 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2019. If you belong to one of the 700+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
