We are delighted to share a blog written by student Adit Waikul from Rustomjee Cambridge International School, who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2019-20 Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community.

It has been wonderful and full of learning and experience.

Project Overview

Our team had climate change in mind when we entered the competition. And we knew that we had execute a project which would fight this issue. And we also saw a great solution for us, solar energy. And we also realized that India has abundance of sunlight and this can be harnessed to produce huge amounts of solar energy. Having all this in our mind, we started our project. And now the primary aim of our project is to spread awareness about solar power. We also want to connect housing societies with solar plant installation companies. We are currently hosting different competitions and seminars for multiple age-groups to spread awareness and train people to understand the practical end of solar power.

Our Journey

During the project, we got associated to a solar plant installation company called Kokusolar. They have given us plenty of support and ideas throughout and have an ongoing impact on our project. In fact we also plan to work with them for the installation of solar plants. Throughout the project, the most important thing we learned is time management. Since all of us are in 9th Grade, we have quite a load of studies and classes. Therefore we had to work very time efficiently and manage other commitments. Also all of us have become better listeners, by absorbing ideas and implementing them in the right way. We have definitely grown confident in our communication and presentation skills.

The Next Chapter

We are now preparing to conduct a seminar for parents in our school. We are also looking forward to getting connected to different businesses and housing societies to expand our target audience.

The 2019-20 GSL Global Goals Competition is now open and runs until June 2020. If you belong to one of the 700+ teams of students currently delivering a social action project as part of the competition we would love to hear from you and feature your blog and project photos on our website to inspire others.
