QSI International School of Brindisi

We are delighted to share a blog written by student Erin, from QSI International School of Brindisi, who is part of a team delivering a Global Goals project for the 2021-22 GSL Global Goals Competition.

Their project is among over 957 social action projects currently running as part of the GSL movement and we are excited to be supporting them to design and lead positive social change in their community!

The GSL competition helped me grow as a person and helped me conquer many life skills which I will apply into helping the world change for the better.

Project Summary

Our project is called PawLife and we are a group of three students of the QSI International School of Brindisi. Our group members are; Erin Mehmeti, Oliver Hare, and Luka Grgic.

Our project focuses mainly on life on land, more specifically animal awareness. One of the main reasons we picked to do a project such as this one is because we can see that social media doesn’t have its eyes shifted at this problem as much as it should have.

Looking around our local area we can see that stray cats come in abundance throughout the streets, as well as when we go to our homelands we can see the same thing with dogs. Examining these animals put many problems and concerns in our heads which we would like to help fix using the GSL competition and social media to our advantage. Spreading the word, and most importantly trying to physically shape our future for the good by applying small changes in our community to help fix this problem.

The Journey

Throughout this journey, we as a team have developed a lot of skills. Some of the main ones would be; responsibility, group interaction, volunteer work, social skills, and management. I would say that we have developed these skills as a result of what we have achieved in the GSL project which would include collaborations, sales, and conducting research.

I would say that we have learned a lot about ourselves. We have learned that when we really try, and when we put in the work we can achieve a lot. We have also learned that there is plenty of room for good in this world and being able to participate in the GSL competition taught us that we can change the world for the better.

A big challenge for us in this competition is trying to spread our message worldwide and gain a following. We would like to reach the maximum of our ability for this project and it would be a dream if PawLife becomes a bigger organization with more members and a following of people, all coming together to help spread animal awareness. We hope to achieve this goal by being more consistent and productive

The Next Chapter

I would say that this project and competition brings the best out of everyone. It helps you realize that anyone in this world is able to do good, it is just a matter of willing to change for the better.

This competition helps you reach that will to change. It is also very fun to work in groups especially with your friends as you see each other grow and become the best version of yourself possible. It is truly a fascinating experience which you will remember for the rest of your life.
