COURSE INFORMATION

What will students learn?

Each day of the 2-day virtual course is focused on a distinct theme:

  1. Leadership Foundations: students will hear from an inspiring guest speaker, learn about environmental activism in action, be introduced to roles they can adopt as part of the digital campaign, and explore the climate issues they are passionate about using brainstorming and visual diagrams.
  2. Plan to Action: students will be introduced to a project planning model, learn about the power of storytelling, co-design their campaigns key messages using a variety of digital environments and media, collectively launch the campaign, and reflect on their learnings and highlights from the two days.

During ‘Grow and Elevate’ (the 11-day campaign period) students will:

  • Collectively implement a digital campaign addressing climate action
  • Work collaboratively to create change
  • Exchange thoughts, messages, and information effectively though interaction
  • Manage time and tasks effectively
  • Increase their awareness of their role in leading climate action

During ‘Reflect and Celebrate’ (the virtual celebration and reflection sessions) students will:

  • Reflect on their personal development journey
  • Take part in interactive wellbeing focused activities
  • Explore how they can continue to lead change in climate action
  • Celebrate their hard-work and achievements

Will students receive a certificate?

Students will be awarded with e-certificates following the virtual graduation event.

How will students be taught?

The course is taught via Zoom using live virtual sessions. They are delivered in English by an experienced team of facilitators/coaches. The sessions are interactive, and students are expected to actively participate using cameras and microphones.

There are two time zone options for the two-day course and reflect and celebrate sessions. Students will be asked to select one option for all two days upon registration.

The options are:

  • 08:00–11:45 or 15:00–18:45 UK time

How will students be kept safe online?

Students safety is taken seriously and we want to ensure everyone has a great experience. Everyone will be required to read and sign a Code of Conduct before the course begins. We want all young people to be able to engage in a safe and respectful space.

What equipment will students need?

  • Access to a laptop or PC with internet connection
  • A headset, or speakers and a microphone
  • A webcam
  • A notepad and pen
